Freedom School
Information on these on going projects will be updated.
In 1964 the Freedom School was part of the civil rights movement.
The spirit was unity in the unembarrassed love for the promise America had for us
all. The teachers were shining as they answered questions about the meaning of
freedom. I was the folk singer. The songs ranged from "We Shall Overcome" to
"Old Mac Donald's Farm". We all understood what we were doing that day. The
Education was electric in the moment of change. We demonstrated that
civil rights are the heritage of all Americans. Perhaps the time has come for
citizens to again state the obvious, and awake the common sense roots which are
our foundation.
